I can't help on this issue, but it must be a Dakota thing. My 05 did something similar right after I bought it. Got in started up and began driving, then one by one the idiot lights dinged on. When it dinged the service engine, the engine just died. I was in a parking light fortunately, so coasted to a stop, engaged park and restarted. Fired right up, no idiot lights, and it has not done that again in 5 years.
