You first need to ensure that you #1 cylinder is in fact TDC. Using MT’s trick. Remove your #1 plug and stick a plastic straw inside the plug hole. Now turn your motor buy hand from the crack pulley (harmonic balance). I can’t remember what size socket fits in the center. Once you got the right size socket. Turn your motor clock wise and feel your straw for movement . Continue turning till you feel the straw start going down. Turn counter clock wise till you find the highest point. Now you should be at the compression stroke Top Dead Center.
Now drop your distributor in making sure the your rotor ends up pointing at the stamp #6 on your distributor. Use this URL to see what I’m talking about. Basically that’s it.
