I recently removed the heads and replaced both head gaskets on my father-in-laws 2000 Grand Am. The engine over-heated and warped a head. I put the engine back together and started up the car with the air breather housing and hoses off. The engine would run at a very high idle and surge. So I installed the Air breather and all associated wiring. Now the car will start, but won't idle. If I am holding the carb slightly open the car will run, but very rough. I can only guess that it has something to do with a vacuum hose or air sensor.
Update: There is one hose that I have not connected. It is a black hose that comes out of the top of the rear valve cover and connects to the top of the air breather hose. Would this affect the idle?
