yeah they say you use the 90-93 integra axles so yeah the b18a1 axles plus the intermediate shaft. but someone also said something about taking off something on the hub and the end of the axle to get it to fit
|
what you need to take out is a metal dust ring thats on the hub. If you look at your hub from the inside when you get the axle out, you can see a small seam all the way around about a half inch from the end. You pry this piece out with a screwdriver. On the axle, you take a small plastic ring off the end of the axle at the hub end. ill try and get a pic of it off my old d-series axle,
http://www.hasport.com/News/Articles...rt%20Axles.htm has a good illustration of this

maybe if you could write down a parts list of everything you needed to change to get the b18a in there, eg. a fuel filter for a integra as oppose to the stock one from you crxalso anything you needed to change on the car to get the engine in. eg. like taking that thing off the hub so the axles will fit. or smashing in the frame so the alternator will fit. oh and what about the exhaust i was kinda wondering about that, do you need a special adapter or will it bolt right up
|
my stock fuel filter works fine on my b20. just be sure you have all the bolts on hand, i was waiting for bolts forever for some stuff. Also if youre gonna use your stock linkage and weld it to fit, you will need to order the bushing for the stabilizer bar for a 90-93 integra, as the civic bushing wont fit unless you "bore" it out. You may be able to salvage your stock clutch cable. You need to unwind maybe an inch of the metal that winds around the cable at the end, then slide the adjuster up a little so there is more room for adjustment. Mine was in poor shape and I took too much off, so it worked like crap and i bought a teg cable and it works great. Maybe you will have better luck than me. for rad. hoses, I used ones from a 90-93 teg, and i had to trim the upper a little. they dont fit on the radiator, but just clamp them down tight and youre good. Your stock heater hose probably wont work either...mine was like an inch too small, but i may have just hacked it to get it off the old engine since some were pretty much melted on. I just took it to autozone and found a hose that was similar in shape and just a little longer. For the alt, i just picked where i guessed the alternator pully was gonna be around and bashed the crap out of the rail with a 5 lb sledge hammer.you can also hoist the engine above the car, and estimate where the alt will be by that.I probably hammered in a 5x5 area or so. My exhaust was another problem. i got a dc 4-2-1 2 pc. header for a 90-91 teg i think, and
a- it was too long
b-the flange at the end was about 180 degrees off from the cats flange angle.
I had to cut a couple inches off the header and reweld the flange and the new angle. After that it worked fine. Home depot rents weenie welders for like 30 bucks a day.

also if you could remember step by step after you took your stock motor out. all the steps to get the new motor in
|
putting the new motor in is a breeze. oh yeah....are you doing a 90-93 teg swap? If so you have the right bracket, but if you are doing a 94+ b18b, you will need the drivers side engine mount bracket, as the 2 bolts are a little different than the 90-93 teg one and wont work with your mount kit. also get the L bracket for the rear tranny mount off a 90-93 teg so you can mount it in. The rear mount is sorta a pain in the ass. you have to remove the stock one and one of the bolts is a pain to get out. be sure to bang down the lip on the rear crossmember under the mount so the motor has room, and it doesnt make noise/vibration once you have it all installed. I lowered my motor in and installed the rear mount first. i had problems getting the side tranny mount in, so i had to take it off in the middle of it and put it in once i got the rear one in and the motor dropped in a little more. if youre runnin ac on your new motor you m ight wanna take the compressor off so you have more room to work.

i am confident in my ability to do it. but i just dont wanna fuck up anything or forget to do anything. also i dont wanna realize that half way through that i need a part from the integra.
sorry so long. i kinda want to get as much info as possible before i start on mine

good luck on your swaps. If i remember anything else ill tell post it
