How does it sound when you start it, does it grind or continue to "spin" after you have released the key? When you get the starter tested what is the part that is bad? Have they told you if it is the solenoid or the brushes?

One thing I have seen happen is an exhaust leak or routing has been routed too close to the starter. Is there a sheild on the starter? If they get too hot I have seen that create issues with them.
