Welcome to the forum. Without having the wiring diagrams for the two to compare against each other, I'm not confident stating you could plug the new one in to the existing wiring harness. I can say though that I've done this with Autopage systems. Of course you may miss out on some of the new features of the new system, but the basic features will probably work fine.

Either way though there will likely be some programming involved. You'll either need to program the new remote to your old system, or you'll need to program the new system and remote to the car. There may be programmable features such as tach sensing or voltage sensing, horn honk or siren, positive parking light versus negative (typically done via wiring rather than programmed), positive or negative door trigger (typically via wiring rather than programmed), lock pulse duration, starter engage max duration, restart attempts, periodic start, temperature start, etc.
