Trans in my 93 ford ranger just went out on the expressway(about 80 miles from home.) The truck has 63 k miles on it. Manual trans. So i had it towed to a nearby mechanic.

He told me he can either have the trans rebuilt($700-$1000) or he can put in a used trans he found for $560 plus labor and lube.

I know nothing about transmissions on these trucks. I just want to make sure i'm getting a pretty fair deal.
