1986 Honda Accord

I have a 1986 Honda Accord (Hatchback) automatic. I just recently bought it and there are a few problems I would like to understand. First off, The car won't go in reverse. When I shift into reverse I get a grinding noise. Also I think the car is too low since I keep getting a grinding with the tires in the wheelbase. At least that where I think I hear it from. What would I need to replace. Also sometimes when pushing the gas pedal it'll stop accelerating to a point and I would have to press the pedal all the way just to go any faster. I think the tranny might be invovled with it. Also I'm not sure if its soppose to do it, but when I open my gas cap I get a realse of vacuumed air noise. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. I heard form other people that this is a great car to have and would like to propely care for it since I really need it.
