Sounds like you've got a good suspension set-up already in place (wow a 2.5-inch drop!)
Here is your best motor bet: look into getting Endyn pistons. They make great "roller wave" forged aluminum pistons, advertised at $410 a set on their web site
www.theoldone.com (go to components). Don't be fooled by more expensive components of lower quality. Top brands like Arias pistons seriously pale in comparison to those made by Endyn. And for the best connecting rods go with Crower. There are numerous reputable companies offering valve components (valves, springs, retainers, etc.), including Crower and Ferrea.
For the cylinder head, you can get porting and polishing done by Endyn as well, suited specifically to your engine's needs (i.e. turbo, SC, nitrous, NA, or a combination like yours). There great cam set-ups available from Jun, Toda, and other companies (I don't know all the details as I run forced induction so I have not researched the naturally aspirated options much), but they are NOT cheap. You could pay like$3,500 to $4,000 just getting cams, valves, and other equipment for your cylinder head. I would also recommend getting an Integra Type R intake manifold, which will need some modifying to work on your LS motor (there is an article on this at Endyn's web site).
I would agree that sticking with your LS block is a good idea, but you might consider getting a VTEC head (either from a B18C1, B18C5, or B16A). You can find numerous links for LS/VTEC hybrids at the SHO hybrid forum and at the BBS link at the Endyn web site. They have more qualified personnel to answer your naturally-aspirated question needs.
To the components aspect, I must warn you that Endyn components and work carries a penalty with it. Not price, but rather time. Their work is actually very reasonable, considering that they are most likely the best stuff on the market for Honda and Acura work, or at least among the
very best. However, as word has gotten out about them, they have been completely overwhelmed with work requests, and they have completely stopped taking orders for pistons, porting and polishing jobs, and just about everything else. If you inquire about it, they may straight up tell you that they no longer offer these services, which is honestly IMO a tactic to get people off their backs so they can concentrate on the workload on their already overfilled plates. But they still answer posts requesting information.
