So last weekend was a Track day for all us Pro-Touring.com/Lateral-G.com
Normally this type of event is held on the East coast and known as Run to the Hill (RTTH). But we got an event put together for us West coasties, and it was known as Run to the Coast held at the old El Toro Marine base.
RTTC was a fun event, it consisted of Three driving events that tested your skillz behind the wheel.
A 2.2 mile road course - FUN & FAST
A nicely laid out Autox course - First half was a bit tight like mid 2nd gear, last half was fast, top of 2nd gear... very drifty too.
A Speed-Stop challenge. The speed-stop challenge was sponsored by Baer Brakes, the goal there was to go from a standing start... go as fast as your vehicle will go in a given distance and try to stop in a 45ft box. The run was timed from start to stop... lowest time won. Much more difficult than you'd expect.
There were a lot of nicely modified cars out there, a lot of them were 500-600+hp. But to qualify for points, all cars had to be running 200 Tread wear or higher tires, no Super sticky R compounds like some of the guys ran. If they had a stickier tire, they were in Exhibition class only and only there for the fun of it.
I slapped on Sumitomo HRTZ-III's 255's on each corner... 300tw. Cheap tire, handles decently... verrry linear grip. You can feel it gripppppppptheennnstarttoooslideee... Very predictable. And they're a Traction AA tire, so... not bad.
The Black Nova is my buddies car... which, used to be my OLD Nova from back in the day... for those of you who have been here for a while might remember it. He spun out on the big course after he accidentally induced braking over steer going into a chicane. weee!
The Carerra GT was the Dad of the guy who runs the race school where we were running at... he did a few Exhibition laps in his car... sounded swweeeett.
Here are some pics.... taken from two different cameras/photographers so they're not in order as the day goes... sorry.
