i dont know what other people do but i use 2000 grit paper to get rid of slight orange peel. then i use tamiya polish followed by wax. works for me. my models look ok. nothing that will win a contest but still pretty darn shiney. its up to the modeler. there are people out there that use polishing kits with grits into the tens of thousands. i think breathing too hard on the surface of the model does more damage than something of that grit but im probably wrong. they didnt make those kits for nothing right?
