I thought about that as well. From my experience by doing it this way I escape two problems:
- too much (thick) paint on the body
- paint works the best when sprayed onto primer

These are the main reasons why I masked the stripe. Besides that it was the first try using maskol by Humbrol. Using it the first on doing a white stripe on white primer looked less risky in means of messing something up. Once I have more confidence in this product I might work around an extra round of masking.

P.S.: The last reason for this masking is me being sometimes a little overcomplicated and super-careful.
