Proximity sensor are extra. they don't come with an alarm system. It is a "plug n play" device.
What do you mean you had a choice? Both of those should be standard on the alarm. I would rather have it make a noise to let others know that I have an alarm(i actually have a voice module on mine). Getting the hood sensor is a great idea because if you don't have it, the theif could pop the hood cut the power to the alarm and no one would ever know you car was being stolen. Get the backup battery because you don't have the hood sensor.
One guy came into our local custom car shop and wanted an alarm with the pager system. But he didn't want any speaker. He wanted to catch the guys stealing his car in the act. Now that's balls.
