i believe that you are correct in that statement. Altho....the GSR (94+) uses an electronically driven speedo (electronic VSS on the trans). Instead of a cable going from the trans to the back of the cluster...there is an electronic wire....I know i oversimplified that..sorry. I used to have a 94 gsr...and the cluster has some additional indicators....like maintenance required light and low gas...and seat belt lights. so..im not sure how you would wire that up...
Someone has to know, tho...i have not done any cluster swapping or rewiring...so I dont want to give you the wrong answer. hope that that helped out some
