I am just wondering roughly how many volts come from the TACH terminal on my stock HEI distributor ('85 V8 305). (I really am just wondering because I am curious and I searched for over half an hour online trying to find that information.)

I also am curious if anyone knows the approximate amps given off from the TACH terminal -- do I need a big guage wire coming from this terminal to a tachometer in the dash? Do I need to worry about EM interference?

Thanks, any info is appreciated.
the tach signal has no great current output , as none is needed ......the output varies with RPM...more pulses more volts...

a small wire with good heavy insulation / loom to protect from damage is all thats needed to the tach input ..I would use 16-18 ga wire...common and cheap stranded so it bends easy..
