Thank you all for your replies and comments. The most important issue for me right now is: curbside or engine detail. I never have been much of a talented engine detailer. So for now I´m strongly thinking of keeping this one curbside as I did on my 250TR.
@jaykay640, F1Tommy, klutz100: I never did my own windows. Do you any handy thread about the technique and the materials I need. You also said that the best tool used is a hot air gun. You don´t mean a simple hair dryer, do you?
The reference:
The kits item:
@BVC500: I only have interior pictures of other 250GTOs as well as the #3387 as it was sold in red by Michael Sheehan. I bought the neko publishing issue on Ferrari GTOs. There are several interior shots in this nice book. But none is of the chassis #3387. If you have some shots I´d be happy to get a copy of them.
@countach79: I´d like to have some of the reference you offer. Shall I PM you? Regarding the color. I asked an internet dealer to make me a can of this color:

To me it resembles the blue/purple shown in the various reference pictures I have f.ex. above). Since I´m limited to spray paints I have no use for the paints offered by scalefinishes.com. Thank you for the link TestaRossa250.
So help on the window issue as well on the color choice is highly appreciated. For now I leave with the status I´m at right now.
For the first time I build the chassis and see if everything fits properly. My mock up:
As you can see with the left front brake I will be using the Hobby Design detail set as much as possible.
The inlays for the secondary lighting unit:
Last a comparison shot between the kits rims which are very nice. Nevertheless I went for all metal mesh wire wheels.
That´s it for the moment. I will keep you posted.
