Hey everybody,
I will rebuild the Ferrari 250 entered by N.A.R.T. in the Le Mans race of 1962 with the starting number 17. It finished 6th overall. After flooding the board with reference and paint questions it is time to show you the progress I have achieved on this build.
I start with the body since reference shows that there are major differences to the body Fujimi provided in this kit. If you ask me Fujimi simply did the regular body adding the No. 17 decals and white center stripes. And it appears as Fujimi used the rebuilt version of this chassis as it entered in Sebring in the same year. When you research this chassis you will find a lot of pictures like this one:
The first difference is to original car is the rear. This car only had a rear flap. Later on the body was rebuilt and has now the regular 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO rear.

I also redid the fuel input system. The reference above clearly shows that the intake was redone into the rear window. It appears as the regular intake was covered with a sticker. I tried to replicate this by filling the spot where the intake uses to be. This part will be covered by a white decal later on resembling the sticker.
Furthermore there are differences in the front of the body as well. There is no brake air intake. The secondary lighting unit is not located at the side of the fender but underneath the front lights.

Right now I´m working on making room for the secondary lighting unit underneath the front lights. I will post pictures later.
Furthermore the original car had side air intakes behind the doors. It also appears as there was no side rearview mirror.

I will finish the shape of the intakes just before the body gets its first layer of primer to prevent this part to gather too much dust.
There are several challenges that I need to come to par with.
- First of all there was no rear sticker included int he kit which is shown on the reference above.
- Second of all there is still the color question. Right now I will order the Ferrari color azzuro california metallic (color code 524) which seems as close to me as possible. Fujumi wants us to use a color H-15 which is not even metallic.

- Third the kits rear window has an air outtake which I think there is no chance of getting rid of. I could order a second regular Fujimi kit. But just for arear window would be very costly.
Thanks for looking and I will keep you posted and ask a lot of questions. Promised.
Cheers Robert
