That is odd and I hope when you figure out what's happening you will post back here. With it being the all in one unit I don't understand what external influence could cause that. It might be interesting to try plugging it in in sections. For example, start with just plugging in the power connector. If it powers up and seems to work fine, then plug the antenna in and see if things change, then the steering wheel control connector, then subwoofer connector, and so on. Maybe you'll find that a bad clockspring for the steering wheel buttons can cause the error you are getting.
