I've just started this new kit. This time I choose the Martini Porsche from Le Mans 1971. This was Van Lennep first Le Mans win.
After seeing this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fJSJPId7eo on you-tube and bought this book...

...I decided to build the total spaceframe. So this will be a superdetailed version of the Fujimi Porsche 917K.
I ordered a lot of aftermarket stuff, including the fantstic engine from HRM. On this forum there is an other thread from SeanyG who build this engine kit also.
To get things started I made a platform to build the spaceframe on. I'm going to solder different brass-rods together. My mirror is the fantastic book and the Youtube video's from Gunnar Racing. Let's start....
I use the original mold from the kit as a guide. In this way I'm hoping that the body will still fit over the spaceframe.
For the frontscreen surround I used thin solderline. This was much easyer to work with. This will be more rigid after building the compleet cockpit.
Let's go up....
The left-side is done.
And right-side to.
My work so far.
I dryfitted the body on the frame. And you know..... it still fits
After painstaiking soldering I had to do something different. I decided to make the driverseat. I found some red cloth with much resemblance of the real seat. Before covering the seat with this cloth I had to made the correct shape. I used plastic strips to get the right shape.
The seat as it looks now.
More to come soon.
