Re: misfuel

BWM has just come out with a new fuel filler mechanism to prevent the smaller gasoline nozzle from opening the flap door in the filler neck opening, appearing on their X5 diesel model. As far as I know there is no retrofit product.

From what I've read, a few liters of gasoline shouldn't be much of a problem if you can dilute it with diesel as much as possible. You don't mention a model year, but tank capacities are between 70-80 L. So 3-5 L of gas in an 80-L tank may not even be noticeable. But it may run rough or give lower fuel economy until you can dilute it with more.

To prevent it from happening again, you'd be best to resort to visual cues such as a DIESEL FUEL ONLY label or paint the gas cap green...Audis have a little door to hide the filler cap. Good luck!
