Hello Sebastien, Thank You for replying to my thread!
The reason for starting this thread was not to bash on Revell for doing a bad job on the car or to force people to correct any mistakes or errors made in the basic kit.
Iīm
NOT saying that you
HAVE to research and correct errors, fit problems, body shape issues or anything. If you just want to build the kit as it is thatīs perfectly fine.
Itīs just that I really, really like the Ferrari California and want to make as good a model of it as possible for me. When companies like Revell and others make our beloved kits, they have to sometimes cut corners and make details and parts a bit different from how they are on the actual 1:1 car for various reasons and through this making the basic kit differ from the car itīs supposed to depict.
Here is where you as the modeler come in. If you want, you can add little details and correct shape errors and add things omitted by the manufacturer because they were too hard to cast or too expensive to make molds of. This I think is not something that is bad, quite the contrary in fact. Making your own little details or adding some aftermarket details can often make the kit-building experience more rewarding than if you were to just build the kit as it comes out of the box.
I donīt think this is nit-picking or being anal. Itīs just a question of isolating the areas that need improvement or bettering. And there are areas like that in any kit.
Thatīs why I started this thread, to let people who have already built the kit help me and others isolate the areas needing more attention from the modeler or identify parts that do not fit as they should when assembled as in the instructions. All this to aid in making as good a model of the beautiful Ferrari California as possible with the maximum amount of enjoyment. Not to force people to do anything,
how you build your kit is entirely up to you. Like you said, itīs just a hobby.
Best regards!
Emil
