What year is "Grandpa mobile"? The idle air control (IAC) can be removed & cleaned using carb cleaner & a Q-tip to clean the seat. If cleaning don't work, replacement may be necessary. JY's are usually not recommended for these, because they may have the same problems. The IAC will not cause all the problems you described; you should check the plugs, wires & for vacuum leaks. BTW, how many miles?
