on the rear of the 307 olds engine passengerside is where this is screwed into the top of the engine..then you have the vacuum line to control the valve...I forget if with or with out vac the valve opens..you should check this first ..before installing.

the valve should have a shape thats gonna accept the small hose. also use some heat on the old valve if you need alot of force to remove...usually the diaphram ruptures then the valve stops working/or the vacuum line is defective..
