The remote operation is complicated, there is two types of operation, radio and infrared. The Radio signal is received by the antenna in the rear window, sent to the rear sam, authorized by the ignition switch, then the switch sends a signal to all the door computers to unlock them. Any of the control units could be at fault but more likely it is an issue with the antenna or your batteries in the key.
