Its possible for gasoline to be leaking in a couple of places under the hood of the car, though it would be rare. For example from one of the fuel lines under the hood (the fuel is under pressure when the engine is running) or around the joint where the fuel injectors go into the intake manifold. It could be leaking from the places where the fuel lines connect to the fuel filter - though I dont know where the fuel filter is on your car. My Jetta is a 1980, so would have many differences under the hood, but there would be a lot of basics that were the same too.
If fuel is leaking front those places, it would likely be under pressure, and would spray around - making it hard to see where it actually came from. And of course if there is gasoline sprayed around, its fairly explosive - so give it plenty of ventilation, dont cause any sparks until it has dried. Any form of spark must be avoided; like operating the ignition key to turn the starter on, or even opening and shutting a door (the switch for the dome light might cause a spark).

All the cylenders are filling up with gas, when you unhook the fuel injecter it stops. when we take spark plugs out thats when it sprays in the air.
