Re: need help on idea of turboing my 1970 lesabre custom
That kit absolutely will NOT fit. It is for a Chevy 350 (5.7 liter) engine, which has been swapped into a LeSabre.
Up until about 1980, General Motors allowed all of their 5 divisions to make their own V8 engines. There engines were all of completely different design and no parts would interchange (except for carbs and accessories, like AC compressors)
So, GM ended up with four completely different 350 (5.7 liter) engines, one each for Chevy, Olds, Buick and Pontiac. They all were different. So, parts for a Chevy 350 will not fit your Buick engine at all.
Even if you were to turbo your engine, you would blow it up unless you rebuilt it with some serious internal mods. You would need to lower the compression ratio a lot and use stronger pistons than the stock ones.
What you can do is to swap a Buick 455 V8 in place of your 350. It will be a straight bolt-in. There are some (not many) performace parts for the 455. They will go quite nicely.
Also, note, Olds and Pontiac also built 455 V8's. They are not the same design. They will fit but require engine mount and exhaust work to fit.
