If the motor hasn't been rebuilt before I would recommend to go ahead and replace all the rings while your in there. It wouldn't take long to do a quick hone and rering it. Also some new bearings and you would be good to go.

Thanks for the reply but the car is onley a stanby incase we have a breakdown not worth that much, but it does or did run good ,piston & rod onley cost $16. new rod bearing $6. head gasket 18 bucks

just wondered about those rings. shoud i knock the glaze off the rings aswell as the block u think ?
