So now I figure that the makers of the timing cover are using seals that are designed for the bigger snout hence my leak. Anyone else ever run into this?
The Speedy Sleave, by the way, will add .022 which will easily make up the difference.

I used a sleeve on a boat engine on the camshaft were the water pump is located. the camshaft got corroded [salt water] and the water pump leaked . after heating up the sleeve and appling some locktight to the cam shaft I slid the sleeve on to the marked camshaft area ..this was s/steel product and its still good after many years..
