Re: Chevy 350 in a CJ5.

The factory transmission in this Jeep my uncle steve used to own was the manual transmission.Convert to an automatic, either a turbo 350,400,a 700R4 if you want an overdrive transmission. The turbo 350 is a lot better than the turbo 400.If looking for a 700R4,loook for a K on the bellhousing since it is out of a 4x4 which is a stronger case.I have seen bad luck with Holleys, run like crap and have pump the gas pedal a lot more.I knw a guy that has a 1970 Chevy truck, had a holley on it running like crap and that was replaced with an Edelbrock which started on the first start and still runs fine with the Edelbrock.Have a 1966 Chevy II Nova, flooded out a lot,had a 1200 CFM Holley on a stock 327 (too big cfm).Tried another holley, got worse and that holley was replaced with a brand new Edelbrock which ran a lot better although the heads have to come off.The valve seat are still the soft seats and the lead additive was never used
