Can Not Remove Key - Key Release Solenoid

Hi All,

Well i have been reading for the last 3 hours and i think i'm finally ready to ask a question. I have a '01 Alero, with Manual Transmission. For the key to release the car must be in Reverse. Last night is would not come out of the ignition, i drove around tapped on things crossed my fingers nothing. I removed the battery cable to keep my car from killing the battery and now am in trouble with the PassLock2 system i believe. But as read more my real problem would seem to stem from the fact i can't get the key out, or to the OFF position which probably screws up the PassLock2 intialization somehow, and i can't really do the 10min wait thing as i can't get back to the OFF position. That is the history.

So from what i read you have a solenoid in the shifter, a ke release solenoid in the ignition assembly, and a fuse for the BTSI system. So my thoughts are i need a way to bypass this crap, and just keep the key released all the time. I haven't been home yet to rip is apart but i have seen some great pics. But essentially was wondering if this is possible? Is there 2 wires on the ignition assembly that discretely control the key release solenoid, and if so can i simply cut and apply 12V to release the key?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
