Noobie Primer for CRX's..Help me help myself

As I am a noob to the area of upgrading and outfitting, I would like to hear your opinions on what i need to watch out for when working on a CRX. I have just got a 88 CRX SI pretty much stock and am thinking of working it into a nice build. Motor runs strong and fine, 150+ miles, Idle is low, a little groan in the right rear boot but not grinding, past is documented and up to date with the usual maintenence.

I see a lot of tech know how here and a few people that have run through the process, so I ask what advice you may give to an amatuer in the field. Anything I need to start on? What did Honda screw up on in stock that I need to replace to prevent problems in the future? Someplace you could suggest for quality?

I know I definitely want to start on the essentials...motor, torque, brakes, suspension, etc to get it top notch before going for the outside work so at least I am not trying to rice the machine (which I cannot stand) so at least you know I am on the level.

So now I leave it to anyone willing to type it out, I got a blank slate...help me create a masterpiece
