If you launch at 5000 RPM then your already past the 240's peak torque and it's just losing torque after that. If you launched at something like 3200 RPM then you would have all that high torque to pull you along quicker. If you launch at 5000 RPM then your almost at redline and will have to shift right away like tatII said and it will just take away time from your 0-60 or 1/4.
