97 Stratus, stuck in 2nd, engine light came on

so i was on the highway for a couple hours then when i came off, a couple stop lights later i noticed the car wasn't shifting from second gear and keeping the rpm at around 4k rpm going about 40mph. Next stop light i was idling and all of a sudden the heat temp gauge shot to hot, the temp light came on and the check engine light came on. I immediately shut it down to avoid warping the engine. Stated up fine a minute later and haven't had a problem since.

i went to autozone and the codes that came up were the following:

P0700
BBTransaxle control system fault
Explanation
BBECM received a signal that the transaxle control BBmodule has a fault
Probable cause
BB1.- Shorted or open circuit within transaxle
BB2.- Failure of transaxle control module

P1776
BBSolenoid switch valve latched in LR position
Explanation
BBThe TCM has detected that the LR pressure is high
Probable Cause
BB1.- Check other service codes first
BB2.- Shifter cable out of adjustment
BB3.- Open or short circuit condition
BB4.- Internal transmission fault

The transmission is kind of foreign to my car ability so can someone put this in lamens terms for me? Do these codes coming in a pair narrow it down at all? Thanks.
