I forgot to mention that I did check the tranny fluid the day it crapped out (when the engine was warm right after it happened). It was almost full and the color was red, so it didn't appear very unusual.
Talked to a few people I know, they think the tranny is shot. I got a rebuild quote of $1,600. The guy at the tranny shop said the forward cluth probably went out, and something or other about 'planetary' something.
I will probably look for someone parting out their tranny on Craigslist or something. But my question is: can I use any A4LD tranny from a Bronco, Ranger, or Explorer? OR does it have to be from a vehicle that is a 4x4 and a 4-liter like mine?
Anything else I should know about trying to find another tranny for my '92 4x4 4L V6 Ranger?
THANKS A LOT FOR THE HELP!
