There are three possible issues here. First there is a good chance that the control arm bushings are bad and allowing the car to vibrate. This would be similar to a bad tire in presentation. The other issue may be a bad CV joint but the symptoms are not the same as you would usually see. If the mechanic checked it then I would look at the bushings. Finally the last thing would be a bad bearing but you should hear something while the car is in motion.
