Hi Steve
That must have been where I seen the pictures on lincolnsonline. I thought I was ok on that trans, but the more I drive it, the more I find out. It does ok on normal driving, and pulling hills. However get her out on the high way and get up to cruising speed 70 or 75 and then the slipping starts in overdrive. It won't slip yet in D. I checked out some over drive bands and they are cheep, even a kevlar one is avaliable. The problem is if I pull the trans out to replace the the band, why not just do a complete bench over haul and be done with it. There might be more damage than just the od band, and it's a complete waste of my time not to go through the whole trans. Hollendar is no help with this. I've got another good trans that's from a 91 LTC it's got the same tv cable set up. I thought it was an aode, but not sure now. I was under the impression that the 4.6 bell housing bolt pattern was different than the 302. I would sure like to find out. I've got one of those engine spacer plates from the 4.6. I need to take it over to some of my buddys yards and physicily see if it will fit the 302 block. If it does, I think it will work by just swaping transmissions. No more parts cost to me other than some fluid. The parts cost is killing me these days.
