Re: New build 2006 BMW Sauber F1 starting

Hello again to anyone who might be looking at this thread.

It's time to start filling and sanding this BMW Sauber F1 kit. I'll have to be honest here. This is the first Revell 1/24th kit I have built in years. I used to build Revell kits as a kid but that was a long time ago. I'm not impressed with the fit of the parts. I guess I didn't notice or care about these kinds of things as a kid, but I sure do now.

I would be interested to know how others who may have built this kit feel. Okay, on with the build. I'm going to going over the seams and gaps and filling of various areas. Lets start with the seams on the front pods and the rear diffuser section.

Here is the front pod sections showing the really bad seams and mold lines.

The other side.

Heres a view of the side pods befor attaching the vertical heat exhaust vent.

Here the vent is glued in place.

Note the gap around the vertical heat vent on the side pods.

Here is the air intake.

Now if you thought that was bad, have a look at the rear diffuser section. the attachment configuration here is REALLY bad. Ton-O-Filling and Sanding ahead of me here.

Here is the othere side.

Okay, more shots to follow real soon that have the filling and sanding results. As I type this, I have the work finished already and the pictures taken. As soon as I complete the upload, I'll add some more info.

Believe me, this was a real putty / surfacer projects.

If anyone has some input on this thread, I would welcome it, either good or bad. Let me know what you think of this kit if you have built it before and share with me your suggestions and ideas.

To be continued.
Greg
