I dont know of any general manuals that would cover American and Imports. Even the ones that aim to cover a range of American cars, like the old "Motor Manuals" - are lacking in detail as far as I am concerned. I basically want the most specific manuals possible for each of my cars: The OEM service manuals have always paid for their cost soon after buying them. I now usually buy them on ebay for the modern cars, and at antique car shows for my pre-war cars. For my newer cars, (87 & newer) I find it very worthwhile to have the exact wiring diagram for the car.
