Maybe we need a sticky electrical how-to. I see this kind of stuff
all the time, even an electrician who thought that solid wire and wire-nuts would be fine in a car... works fine in a building!
I'm about to go out for the night, but I may write one tomorrow if nobody beats me to it.
Although at this point, a bad unit is possible, until we know that my assumption was correct. Probably one of those things we'll never hear.
