I am a young mechanic and haven't had too many transmission jobs yet.
I just pulled this down to replace the front seal where the torque converter goes in because it would stream fluid from the bottom of the bell housing after being driven for 15 minutes...
Turns out I see a big gash in the side of it and am now wondering how that happened!? Any helped would be much appreciated.
It looks like it was worn from the axle side....
I am guessing I found the source of the "leak."
Has anyone seen this before and how/why it happens? It was still driveable - just happened to run out of fluid rather quickly.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
