I have a 91 skylark the would do that after long trips--every stop light would stall but restart right away would have to gas it before shifting -techs at my work diconnected a sensor for the convertor which corrected the problem and I only loss about 2mpg by doing that--was told it was a common problem with these vehicles--connection is under hood on drivers side towards bottom of engine--worth a try
