Stalling while slowing down, about what speed are you moving when this happens? It could be the transmission torque converter hanging up.
You should also look at the egr valve. It should be near the top rear of the motor, it has a vacuum hose going to it. Underneath the top of the valve is a diaphragm, touch it with your fingers while increasing the motor idle speed. The diaphragm should not move. If it moves it needs to be cleaned or replaced.
