Manual Trans Fluid Replacement

I drained my 2001 Elantra manual transmission fluid and refilled it. In the process I removed two bolts from the bottom of the transmission housing. Apparently one of the bolts was not the one I should uncrew. I could not screw back in this bolt as the receptacle was somehow dislocated in the transmission housing. I plugged the hole with a rag and since driven more than 1000 miles without any problem (no leak or no unusual noise). Now I am wondering if I should do somthing about the bolt. Anyone on this forum has any insight on this bolt as to what purpose it has for the transmission?
