I had posted this in teamswift too and you're right. I've always heard this called staking. Someone told me that caulking is also used for rivets, where I guess the metal is folded into itself or something like that. I don't know, just never heard that term before. I don't know how it goes for everyone else but I had a helluva time unstaking that nut. I basically ended up removing it with a cold chisel. I'll post up some pics a little later. There are some parts that the manual doesn't quite catch and is misleading a little too. For instance I did not need a gear puller at all which is good since there was no space for the tangs anyway. But it led to some discombobulation for me at least.
