The fusible link Mr.Pink refers to under the hood is actually a fuse not a relay. I have an '89 and it has a 50 amp fuse. These are main circuit breakers, (fuses) that power certain parts of the electrical systems. I had a problem where as the connection to the main fuse had arced enough times that it lost its connection. It was a slide on blade type that plugged in underneath the fuse holder. I could wiggle it to make the connection but it would'nt stay. I ended up hard wiring it to the input side of the fuse. I was going to change the connector, which was a female slide connector but the connector the manufacturer uses is slightly bigger than your normal connectors. Hope this helps. Good luck.
