Well, according to my latest issue of The Economist, all 5 major Chinese auto companies are owned and controlled (directly or indirectly) by the Chinese government, as this article infers.
I suspect that the US government would have a strong objection to allowing such a large and economically important company to be controlled by them. GM would get bailed out or taken over or nationalized before that were to happen.
So......... perhaps GM and Chrysler welcome and encourage this kind of publicity as they go, hat in hand, to Washington.
