I cant speek directly to the 4.0l but when the IAC whent out on my 5.2 it had no effect on starting. What would happen is you could start normaly and then as it came out of high idle it would die.

I believe you crank issue is the same as alot of JGC owners. I have had to crank twice for the last 3 years. My understanding is that some where in the fuel line there is a check valve, not in the pump. It it only hearsay but many people I have talked to have the same problem.
