Re: 99 Taurus 3.0L DOHC - Waterpump Replacement

I finished the job this weekend and it took about 5-6 hrs, but I'm slow and could do it faster now that i know what I'm doing.

I didn't pull the crank pulley as this is suggested. This was only done (as best I can tell) to get to the heater hose clamp. I removed the other end of the hose (heater side) and pulled the hose off with the pump.

The pump is actually 2 pieces, the housing and the pump. You must remove the housing (4 13 mm nuts), and once off, remove the pump from the housing (7 5mm hex). This took a long time, and I couldn't get one of the nuts (they must use lock-tite). I had to use the dremel and cut it off and use a new bolt. This wasted about 2 hrs. I'd suggest buying the housing & pump together. It looks like rockauto.com sells them this way.
