Good question. It's not likely for a tow hook. If you look at the Primeras more closely, you will see the stock versions have a tow hook sticking out next to the right side (left side looking at it) fog light.
It's more likely a cooling vent or just for looks.
If it's for cooling, it could be on of the transmissions gets a bit warm and needs a little air flow. That's not too likely either since I'm pretty certain the splash shields are above the vent.
Probably for looks. Ick.
That said, I'm trying to find out if they will fit on the USM G20.
