I don't have a specific answer to your question, but I know a place where you can send your starter and they will do a first-class job of rebuilding it.

Again, I don't know where you are but if you're anywhere near this area, they are HIGHLY recommended. Reasonable prices, too.
For the record, I have nothing to gain or lose by posting this. I've had good service from them, and that's why I recommend them. They do antique generators, water pumps (we send a ton of tractor stuff there) and starters.
